Job Description

The VP of Technology is responsible for all aspects of technology including I.T. operations, software development, technology acquisition and integration with Blinds.com, The Home Depot and third-parties. The VP of Technology works closely with the VP of Interconnected Retail and other functional leaders in the organization to set strategic direction. This role is also responsible for the successful adoption of Global Custom Commerce (GCC) Enterprise IT Standards as well as the successful integration of any products within the GCC environment.

25%- Provides strategic direction for all technology activities
20%- Works closely with the PRM/PO and business stakeholders to prioritize work for technology teams and to ensure that technical concerns are considered as part of the prioritization process
20%- Builds close relationships with people at The Home Depot including store, business and technology teams in order to accomplish organizational goals
20%- Oversees technical architecture especially as it relates to the broader enterprise architecture
10%- Initiates efforts to build or integrate new products as required to meet the needs of the business
5%- Manages relationships with vendors that provide solutions, advice, training, recruiting assistance, staff augmentation and other products and services as needed

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Typically requires overnight travel less than 20% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
8 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field
IT leadership experience
Experience with capacity planning
Vendor management and negotiation experience
Experience in budget creation and management
Experience defining key metrics for an organization and driving improvement
Retail experience
Familiarity with the architecture of e-commerce solutions at Blinds.com and/or The Home Depot

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Experience leading technology teams involved in operations and new product development with annual budgets in excess of $2M
Has the technical skills and broad awareness of technology trends necessary to shape application and enterprise architecture for large-scale e-commerce applications
Has experience as an application or enterprise architect preferably in a .NET environment
Familiar with all aspects of technology infrastructure including security and application hosting
Proven ability to work well with senior executives, business partners and technology teams
Deep understanding of project management and SDLC with a strong focus on agile methodologies
Broad business experience ideally including experience in e-commerce and new business development
Confident in speaking up and being yourself
