HIRING SALARY: $65,000.00
Under the direction of Secretary, Julie Jones, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 99,000 inmates incarcerated and another 140,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 142 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State s largest agency.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a highly technical position which will provide tier 2 and tier 3 technical support for Active Directory, Windows operating system, software and related services which run on the Department s servers throughout the Enterprise. This position will plan, conduct evaluations, install and advise on technical system software, telecommunications systems, file management and related areas as part of projects within the Office of Information Technology. This position also provides on-call support on an as-needed.
This is highly technical work involving operating system software, other system software, hardware installation, hardware configuration, upgrading/maintenance of complex, multivendor systems, and problem resolution. This includes system software research, evaluation, installation, and performance tuning. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
This position provides comprehensive technical support for Windows based operating systems and servers in the Enterprise. It involves in-depth knowledge in the areas of Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, DNS, Exchange Server, IIS, Office 365 and SharePoint.
Performs extensive planning, coordination, installation and evaluation of server software and other telecommunications, database management or software packages as part of projects within the Office of Information Technology. This involves close communication and interaction with personnel within the Office of Information Technology. It also involves communication with personnel in business units within the Department.
Provides technical assistance and advice to Office of Information Technology personnel regarding advanced system administration and problem resolution.
Provides identification and resolution of problems with server software by monitoring the status of running systems.
Provides training and mentoring for lower level systems programmers and continuous education concerning issues and relating to server systems and software through publications, seminars, conferences and classes. Maintains a library of all server software and documentation required to support server operations in the Enterprise.
Develops and implements scripts to supplement and enhance and automate system administration tasks.
Installs, maintains, advises and debugs systems and software that interact with the Department s servers.
Provides support for the Department s corporate mobile devices across the Enterprise.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA s):
Skilled in systems administration of Windows Server 2008/2012.
Skilled in Active Directory Domain Services design, administration, support and troubleshooting.
Skilled in Exchange Administration.
Knowledge of Active Directory Federation Services
Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of systems analysis.
Knowledge of operating system and/or telecommunications concepts.
Knowledge of computer operations procedures and systems.
Knowledge of computer scripting languages.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of project management.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Ability to process information logically.
Ability to interpret technical information relating to computer programming and other areas of data processing.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to prepare technical documentation.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
MCSE, MCSA or similar certification preferred.
Five or more years experience managing Active Directory;
Five or more years Windows Server administration experience;
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
