Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose: The primary purpose of the Corporate Director of Information Technology is to evaluate, research and make suggestions on processes, equipment, infrastructure and staff needs for a new entity / merger to meet company goals as well as the implementation and integration of same. The IT Director provides guidance by professionally articulating needs, discussing plans with the executive management team and presenting to shareholders and the board of directors.Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Assess existing systems across the corporation and within each legal entity or business unit by traveling to various offices, analyzing systems, reviewing processes, interviewing staff and building working relationships.
  • Research, develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses then present suggestions and plans for improvements to the company now and for future expansion/capabilities.
  • Develop IT policies, standards and best practices and coordinate a smooth implementation with each location.
  • Work with corporate heads and local contacts to create strategies and prioritize tasks.
  • Hold departmental budget responsibility, including the review of product and service contracts, and the overseeing company resources.
  • Identify needs and hire experts or additional services when needed to protect company / business.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Assist in all-phases of the integration with a hands-on approach and project ownership.
  • Manage employees of the department including the responsibility for the hiring and performance management of each team member and mentoring of IT Staff in other locations.
  • Ensure system maintenance is tracked and held and any risk communicated to the COO appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance and security for all IT functions including processes, software and hardware.
  • Keep abreast of IT issues affecting the industry or businesses and communicate action items to the COO or others as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Bachelor s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, with 10-15 years related IT management experience and training. Equivalent combination of education and applicable experience may be considered.
    • Field experience is required.
    • Networking / system design, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance experience is required.
    • Ability to rely on extensive knowledge and professional discretion is required.
    • Certifications proving aptitude are preferred but are not required.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to obtain and review price quotations/proposals and scope to determine the effective routes for the company. Identify and communicate risks during the decision-making process.
    • Ability to create positive relationships with key members of staff to implement changes and progress timely and effectively.
