Job Description

At Eurofins US Microbiology, our goal is to make sure your individual testing profile meets both regulatory compliance and your overall program objectives in the most accurate and timely manner possible. Our technical staff of microbiologists and customer service representatives will work with you to choose the appropriate tests, methods and frequencies best suited to your specific needs.

Eurofins is searching for a Quality Manager in Des Moines, IA.

Quality Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Lead team, schedule, and train employees

Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations

Ensure coverage and performance

Foster morale and teamwork

Provide user support for eLIMS ME.

Act as administrator for EML JIRA projects.

Provide technical support to laboratories in regards to completion of microbiological methods.

Provide microbiology training to Client Service Representatives, when necessary.

Serve as liaison to Performance Engineering Group.

Assist in recruiting efforts, (ie. Participate in interviews, candidate evaluations)

Provide IT support in regards to ComLIMS (test configuration).

Provide IT support in regards to eLIMS ME (test configuration).

Assist with new laboratory design.

Develop, revise, maintain, and distribute internal quality documents (quality manual, standard operating procedures, forms, methods).

Plan, organize, direct, monitor and control Eurofins Microbiology Laboratory (EML)'s quality system to meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025, government regulations, and company requirements.

Assist laboratory personnel with accurate interpretation of internal quality documents.

Conduct internal audits of each local laboratory location to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, ISO 17025, and other quality related standards.

Monitor and assist with investigations of non-conformances, client complaints, and out-of-specification results.

Review EML non-conformances and complaints for trends indicating systematic problems.

Conduct weekly EML Quality conference call to review local issues and potential impact on other microbiology laboratories.

Coordinate and monitor laboratories' participation in accredited proficiency testing programs.

Coordinate accreditation programs with A2LA and other accrediting bodies as needed.

Participate in client audits when necessary.

Assist in development of training programs to support quality objectives.

Coordinate the approval of quality-critical suppliers and vendors.

Organize and conduct annual customer satisfaction survey in conjunction with Marketing.

Organize and conduct annual Quality Management Review.

Develop and monitor quality KPIs.

Other responsibilities as needed.

The ideal candidate would possess :

Strong leadership, initiative, and teambuilding skills

Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills

Experience with HTML and copy editing is strongly preferred

Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Basic Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)

Prior experience in an analytical setting; 3 to 5 years work experience is preferred

Prior experience working with a variety of regulatory guidelines (ISO) and QA/QC programs

Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Des Moines, IA are encouraged to apply. Candidates in other locations will be considered as well, for the possibility of remote work.
